I hope you are all looking forward to the Christmas break.
2022 was a big year for me as I repositioned The London LAMDA Tutor as a boutique LAMDA tuition service and returned to teaching.
It’s been a joy to return to my first love – sharing the craft of performance and public speaking with my students so that they can achieve freedom of expression.
The main theme of the year with all of my students has been getting them out of their heads so that they can be completely present and communicate with their whole body. Public speaking and performing are visceral activities and much like driving a car, riding a bike, or playing a musical instrument, we need to switch off the whirring of our thinking brains and allow ourselves to be completely present in our bodies and in the present moment.
In addition to teaching children, my student cohort now includes more adult students who are mastering their public speaking skills through tailored programs or through the LAMDA framework.
It’s been amazing hearing how the skills my students have gained in their lessons has impacted other areas of their lives. Whether that’s been presenting in a school assembly with confidence or adult learners who have noticed career opportunities opening for them and discovering latent talents they didn’t realise that they had for so many years.
No matter their age or whichever LAMDA route my students work towards, my students come to realise that confidence is something that they can give to themselves. I know that their individual journeys continue to provide opportunities where they can surprise themselves and unearth important lifelong skills.
I look forward to my students continuing LAMDA adventures in 2023 and beyond!
