The ability to speak and present confidently in public is a skill that is incredibly valuable in our work and personal lives.
Yet, more than half the population are afraid to do so. In fact, the fear is even greater for 18-24 year olds with more 61 percent listing it as a fear, according to YouGov.
Knowing how valuable it is, many parents get in touch with me to discuss their son or daughter needing to develop this skill. However, they aren’t sure whether to enrol their child into a group drama class or private LAMDA tuition.
Every child’s needs are different and drama classes are a fantastic way to develop these skills alongside a supportive peer group, but you are more likely to see better and faster results with one-to-one LAMDA tuition.
Why is that the case?
- Tailored Lessons – An introductory lesson allows an experienced tutor to assess your child’s needs and tailor a programme with specific goals that suits the individual. It also means that both parent and child can advise on what they’d like to learn, so they are more likely to persevere in the long-term.
- Faster Improvements – One-on-one lessons means that the tutor’s time and energy is focused on one child rather than a whole group. That means you’ll start seeing results faster.
- Familiar Surroundings – For those children who need a little confidence boost, tuition at home with an empathetic tutor can be a much less daunting prospect than group drama lessons.
- LAMDA’s Syllabuses – Designed to equip learners with the skills to confidently communicate and express the written word, your child will learn about conveying a message to an audience, articulation, vocal projection, stagecraft and develop their creativity and imagination.
- Sense of Achievement – LAMDA qualifications are highly prestigious and can count towards the UCAS points system when applying to universities and colleges. The sense of accomplishment your child will feel after taking their exam will make their confidence soar!
